Stephen
A. Mendel is an attorney licensed by the State Bar of Texas. He is also
a licensed architect and real estate broker. He obtained his undergraduate degree
in 1977 from the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with high honors
with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. Mr. Mendel practiced architecture
for several years, and was a former faculty member at the central campus of the
University of Houston, where he taught construction related courses.
Mr. Mendel attended law school at South Texas College of Law. He
obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 1986, graduating summa cum laude.
Thereafter, Mr. Mendel served two years as a briefing attorney for a U.S. District
Court judge, and is a former associate of a nationally recognized law firm. Mr.
Mendel is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of
Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern
District of Texas, as well as all trial and appellate courts in the State of Texas.
Mr. Mendel is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys and
was a contributing author of another book entitled Strictly Business, a book about
business strategies and estate planning strategies for privately owned businesses.
In addition to his contributions to Total Wealth Management, Mr. Mendel is also
a contributing author on a third estate planning book entitled Love, Money &
Control.
Mr. Mendel is dedicated to assisting his clients in achieving their estate planning
goals, and believes in a creative approach to planning. He also believes good
estate planning is a team effort, and that the team should include the client’s
CPA, insurance agent, and financial planner. Mr. Mendel and his family reside
in Houston, Texas. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching youth basketball. He
also enjoys cycling, tennis, golf, water skiing, and snow skiing.
Gordon K. Williamson, JD, MBA, MSFS, CFS, CAS, BCE, BCS, BCAA,
CEPP, AEP, a former tax and estate planning attorney, is the author of over 30
books, including The 100 Best Mutual Funds You Can Buy, the most popular mutual
fund book ever written (over 500,000 copies sold); he is also the author of the
first two books ever written about annuities. Dr. Williamson has been the financial
editor of a number of magazines and newspapers. He taught at the University of
California for 10 years and was the chairperson of their Business & Finance
Department. Gordon manages investments for individuals and corporations. He has
been the manager of a national brokerage firm for over 20 years. Besides overseeing
investors’ portfolios, Dr. Williamson is the executive director and founder
of The Institute of Business & Finance, a fully accredited educational provider
to the financial services industry. Gordon lives in La Jolla, California.
