Veterans Day is one of the most important holidays in America and it is unfortunate that it is not celebrated more than it is. Our veterans deserve our respect and we should take the time honor them on a yearly basis. If you forgot about this last Veterans Day, then I urge you to take the time now to thank the veterans that you know for their service to our country. Without that service, we would not have the freedoms that we enjoy.
Ideally, you will do more than just thank the veterans you know. Take some time to talk to them and make sure that they have all of the care and support that they need. There are many programs available to assist veterans. However, some of those programs go underutilized because veterans are not aware that they exist or that they are eligible for benefits. For example, the Veterans Aid and Assistance Benefit gives money to veterans who need assistance with daily living functions. It is underutilized.
If you do know a veteran who could use more assistance, have them seek out an attorney to help them apply for the programs that they are eligible for.
