Governors James Stephen Hogg and Thomas M. Campbell hail from the city of Rusk, Texas. James Stephen Hogg was the 20TH governor of Texas and served from 1891-1895. Thomas M. Campbell was the 24TH governor of Texas and served from 1907-1911. The town was established by an act of the Texas Legislature on April 11, 1846. It was named after Thomas Jefferson Rusk, signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence.
