On February 23, 1836, Sam Houston and John Forbes signed a peace treaty with representatives of the: Cherokee (1); Shawnee (2); Delaware (3); Kickapoo (4); Quapaw (5); Choctaw (6); Biloxi (7); Ioni (8); Alabama (9); Coushatta (10); Caddo of the Neches (11); Tahocullake (12); Unataqua (13) Indians. Unfortunately, the Republic of Texas Congress refused to ratify the treaty.
