Approximately 750,000 Texans served in the U.S. armed forces. Approximately 75 percent served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, with 25 percent in the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Approximately 23,000 Texans died while serving in World War II.
